What's Buzz-worthy: Triple Threads is a brand that's been going strong since 2006 and it's definitely had some growing pains in the past (first five years or so) as other brands helped high-end evolve in general. This one is a solid release as usual but I've seen and heard of some unusual collation patterns here and there that have left some breaks feeling flat if not deficient with missing autos and short on guaranteed inclusions. (On flip side, that should mean some cases over-deliver.) This isn't necessarily one of those -- it's a break that includes some good names -- but it's one that just didn't have an oomph kind of card that I'd expect from this brand. The Snell and Suzuki cards are probably the biggest here, but they're not that big. There also wasn't any super-rare pull, either, to add to add that factor in this box -- so it felt flat but not deficient in terms of what it included. The design here is nice like last year but there's one touch that really, really bugged me -- the design makes it look like the bottom corners of all of the base cards are dinged when they aren't. The color of the side stripes also seem random with most of them here orange but then some with colors that match their team or neutral. (Confusing.) The formula here is one that can include some big cards as usual -- so some will win big -- but that just wasn't the case this time around and it didn't leave me with the best impression for this one, despite it being a brand that has packed enough big and downright crazy stuff long enough that it has lasted. If you've ripped into Triple Threads in the past, then you know what's up here ... dig in. If you're a little more on the fence, grab the singles you like.
