What’s Buzz-worthy: I have only gotten my hands on this hanger and a blaster for this one, which is apparently a favorite of shelf-clearing flippers (maybe it should be, maybe it shouldn't be) but the one thing I know is that Donruss NFL is a brand that I've ripped more of in the last four years than perhaps any other. Why? Well, some formats include a mess of insert cards that make for a fun rip with plenty of variety. (Not always a ton of longer-term value ... and I'm fine with that. I'm ripping these for fun.) This format is a big winner compared to blasters but this box is perhaps closer to average though I gave it a B for a Rated Rookie among the parallels and a couple of names I like among the inserts. I didn't get any standard Rated Rookies here, but the one extra card was perhaps a standard RC ... for some reason one of them was flipped over but it wasn't a variation or anything different. The volume of what you get here on the inserts is really good. Simple as that. ... The overall feel here is familiar and within the formula of recent years for Donruss but this year's design is simple and stronger than last year if you ask me, so that's why it gets a slightly higher grade than last year. When I find more Donruss, I'll rip more Donruss -- but I think the Optic version of this release could end up being very, very powerful on both the value side and the fun side ... as long as they make plenty. Otherwise the online bots and the shelf-clearers win.
