What's Buzz-worthy: I gotta get my free Optic pack -- that requires 20 wrappers -- so I'm on blaster No. 2 for this one after a pretty strong first box. The young star power that was in that one was replaced here by retired all-time greats. Still a fun box but not necessarily one that will command as much heat on a select few singles. That said, the rare Pink parallel here was a solid find -- had that been a Hailie Deegan card it would pay for five blasters, maybe more. As said last time, the subsets are a heavy part of the machinery here as the 200-card base set is broken up in a few ways via a familiar approach -- Race Kings, Rated Rookies, drivers, cars and then Retro cardboard using the 1987 Donruss MLB design. This year's set seems to give a bumper tap to all of the oddball variations -- I didn't notice any here and they were very heavy in the past -- in favor of more parallels. (Oddly, I think that might be an improvement, though I liked the variations ... perhaps just not their overwhelming volume.) The Orange cards are apparently only found here for both standard stock and Optic and the plastic cards are found in every pack unless there's a hit. ... All in all, this is a comfortable format that delivers pretty well -- and there's good potential for the price as ink appears to be possible among hits here, too. If you want guaranteed ink and more action across the board, though, hit that link up top for a hobby box and plenty more.
