What's Buzz-worthy: After checking out a case break of this one last week, I finally opted to grab a box since far more boxes in that one seemed like winners than losers this year ... in other words, it felt better than past years with more big names being found more regularly. My box? It was along those lines. I didn't land any "base" autos in this one instead getting solely insert cards. The basic set of autos won't be easily collected as some cards only have three copies made -- see the checklist here -- and a few have just five. But they all have parallels so that's nice. The Crystals cards are a full rainbow of parallels on their own here adding to the variety and the scope of what all is found in the release. Some of the subsets are pretty small but they carry over some name continuity to past years but not the same designs. This box started off with a quad memorabilia card of some big names who haven't ever signed for any card company for the most part (only Cooper has autos) with my first auto a 1980s TV star (The Fall Guy!), a comedy legend following up (though he should always be paired with his other half in every box if you ask me) and then the card that was the big pop culture card winner of today, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown. That card is the basic starting point for the Crystals parallel, while the Thomas is as well but some parallel colors are oddly actually higher in volume than the base "Silver" version. The Chong and Brown cards were wins for me -- no real interest in Thomas -- and the memorabilia just isn't what I'm ripping for here but I suppose I could have landed some other autos with a little less interest than that one. Some of the autos that can be found here include Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Alicia Silverstone, Carmen Electra, Charlie Sheen, Christina Ricci, Daisy Ridley, Harrison Ford, John Travolta, Meg Ryan and Mark Cuban for starters and there are other names like Clive Barker, Elizabeth Berkley, George Lopez, Jesse Jane, Steve Seagal and Marion Ross who have varying places in pop culture and fans but perhaps not as much price demand. However, that said, a lot a signers in releases like this one may not have autographs later so the values can surprise once boxes dry up. Past Pop Century sets have included names like Trump, Kardashian, Spears and others that make for pricey autos now and boxes be nowhere to be found. Overall volumes of cards in these releases are low, too, and this year's edition is right there with nothing (including memorabilia) over 50 serial-numbered copies across the entire release.
