What's Buzz-worthy: This one has come and gone quickly in my area but I did find this straggler, so I grabbed it. It was an improvement over my first box of the year with some better RCs and an insert appearance from perhaps the best rookoe of that bunch, too. The set is loaded with past and present players -- a plus -- and these boxes are consistent in what they deliver for the most part. Your odds aren't great here with small boxes -- a hobby box is much safer with guaranteed ink -- but it you are a collector of Heritage this one has a serious feel of that but with more variety. As I mentioned last time, the design of this box is reminiscent of some past Topps Heritage releases in its colors and design and that vibe translates into the stock here -- it's Heritage stock on everything. ... There are, oddly, some subsets that are numbered with the main set but feel like inserts and then some inserts that use past designs, too. This one is becoming more and more like a "Topps Herchives" release and that might not be a bad thing as Heritage marches into the 1970s. ... There are a lot of variations to look for (see the checklist and check your codes) mostly on the 1955s where the smaller action shot is either a different image or a black-and-white one. The 1974s include nods to the variations where Topps had the Padres moving to Washington and the 2002 is a variation where you'll need to check the photo on the back. Odds-wise, parallels here don't flow well at all -- one in 39 packs for the easiest -- meanwhile autographs are one in 10 blasters for the easiest of them, though maybe easier overall as there are a few auto sets.
