What's Buzz-worthy: You can find hobby boxes of this one in the big sale and, despite what was found here, this one might be one of the best releases of the year in terms of delivering for me. (I'm 2-for-2 landing ink in hobby boxes this year, one being Nolan Ryan.) It's also a 2020 brand that hasn't blown up price-wise in part perhaps because its press run was complete before the wheels fell off for production due to coronavirus (so plenty got out there) and then because, well, 1971 isn't one of the most-popular releases of the past despite its unique look. This box included three of the best Rookie Cards -- only a Bo Bichette appearance eluded me of what I consider to be the biggest ones -- and it included some solid names among the base (both old and new) but the inserts here were lacking and my SPs had awful centering. (Had we not just started an MLB season and it being a slow Friday, you might not have seen this box.) As mentioned before, my hobby boxes of this one this year both delivered ink, while these blasters have also had some heat though aren't among my favorite formats. The mega box is probably your best bet at retail -- volume of packs a key -- and then hobby are both leaders depending on how much you want to spend. (See that link up top.) Not every box will wow you in this brand -- it never has -- but you can still do well in general with SPs and some other fun inclusions if you rip with some pack volume bigger than blasters offer. If the pickings are slim at retail, this one should be considered for its potential, though a lot of basic blasters will be out there for this release, too. You never know, though, because there's a lot of stuff on the odds panel here.
