What's Buzz-worthy: This one's late arrival to retail comes with a twist -- these three-pack hanger boxes actually have hobby packs inside. That gives you a better shot at variations and hits -- though odds are never super-generous here in any format with one hit the norm per 24-pack hobby box ... and Relics most often that find. This is a small set loaded with RCs but right now your most-notable is Luis Robert ... with a big drop-off ... so there's a lot of down-the-line potential. This one is going to be very hit and miss with just three packs and this one pretty much offered up a low-bar experience ... an average box despite a Mike Trout insert. Simply put, it just wasn't a good rip even with that fish. Perhaps fueling my thoughts here was the price (something I only realized after-the-fact) -- they are on the shelf at $21.98 but actually rang up at $24.98. That would make a hobby box $200. Nope. Hit that link up top for hobby boxes at about half that price with a lot more guaranteed. Right now, there might be some temptation here if you see these in front of you, but I'd go hobby box all day long -- you'll get a guaranteed hit, some type of box-topper, typically a variation of some type and nearly the whole set ... and that will nearly always include Luis Robert. This format is perhaps a late-year COVID fix to get something out there and get it done faster -- I'd bet there are no other formats to come but haven't pursued verifying that as I've moved on from 2020 baseball and am ready for 2021 -- but I'm not sure this one is working all that well unless you buy in volume. I'd buy hobby boxes in volume with this release instead. It's not quite as strong as past years on the rookie front but there are big things possible, especially with it being hobby. Rip hobby boxes of this one until they dry up.
