What’s Buzz-worthy: If you live in Seattle and know what the Bartell Drugs chain is, then you might have seen these there when they arrived earlier this month (Nov. 12) -- it's a 25-card set with an autograph sold there for $25 (limit four per person in stores if one finds them). Proceeds from the sales go to Seattle Children’s Hospital and it's a mix of "Seattle athletes, performers and ambassadors" and then a trio of kids who have been success stories. Everybody on the checklist, from Seattle Mariners legend Ken Griffey Jr. to Macklemore, Russell Wilson and Ciara have autographs to be found in these sets, which arrive as a sealed pack inside the sealed boxes here. The cards use the 1984 Topps baseball design and are printed on high-gloss thick stock like Topps Now releases. The big-name autos (Griffey, Wilson, Ciara) have sold for as much as $500 on eBay (flip to completeds) as they are undoubtedly rarer than others, while other names on the checklist can also easily pay for a few sets. Everything is signed on-card here so this one has likely been in the works for some time and it's got a few first-time card appearances and autos to go with a legendary lineup. (I picked this one up for around $40 and should have done more but I didn't check the auto sales.) My set was a solid one with ink for actor/comedian Joel McHale who is among the first-timers here.
