What's Buzz-worthy: It's been a few years since I ripped into one of these and I didn't even read the box to remember that it's ultimately only a set when I saw its price. (It was cheap, so I grabbed it.) The good news is that this time (unlike my past break) I did land a full set ... last time I was a card short. There's not much more to say here than what I said in the past other than he does have a name now, Grogu, and he's sold a bunch of merch since ... so a re-run starts now. ... The global merchandising machine known as Baby Yoda gets his own in-pack trading card set -- arriving before the set for the show he was on -- that's focused solely on him. This one is a smidge confusing on its packaging but here's what you're supposed to get -- 25 base cards, five Illustrated Cards and then two parallel cards in every box. The parallels this time were two Green cards but there are four other possible colors, too -- Red, Blue, Orange and Steel. Those serial-numbered parallel cards start at one in 19 boxes and range as high as one in 1,712 for the base versions. The Illustrated Cards are even tougher (since there are only five) with starting odds of one in 91 and as high as one in 8,559. Do the math there and there are approximately 34,000 boxes (sets) made -- not exactly a big number when you consider the worldwide appeal of this character so far and the price means it should get gobbled up pretty fast. Baby Yoda already holds the Topps Living Set sales record and was a force for the Topps Now Mandalorian cards that showed him, too. This set is printed a sturdy, gloss- and foil-free stock and showcases a number of the memorable moments for the little alien who is now a big deal in the Star Wars galaxy.
