Rest In Peace Casket Relic (1) – Undertaker (/99)

What's Buzz-worthy: Just 200 copies of this deluxe set ($49.99) were made and just 278 copies of the standard ($24.99) hitless version were made. I opted for a Relic set and this one, while the standard Relic card, was good ... where else can you find a casket Relic? The photo above doesn't do it justice -- the swatch is likely some of the liner from inside the coffin as it's fabric and not metal in the super-thick card -- but it was a nice surprise as what the Relic was made from was a mystery when buying. (I bit, thinking it might be something different like gear ... I was close.) This is the standard card while there are also Navy (/50), Purple (/30), Grey (/15), Black (/5) and 1/1 Gold parallels to be found. The set is a small one, though big for Topps On Demand, with 20 cards for his general career and 20 for The Streak where he never lost at WrestleMania ... well, until it did happen, which is not in this set. What's odd here is that the main set goes to only 2008 and the streak to 2013 ... meanwhile, he's wrestled somewhat annually up to 2020 and this set was part of commemorating his retirement. Maybe it's just me, but The stuff from his last seven years -- wins and losses -- are also cardboard-worthy, too. (Series 2 needed?) That's about the only thing that kept this one's grade from being higher ... some of the images are a little repetitive, but the key memorable moments look pretty good. (There's one particular card that goes out of its way to not mention his "best in the world" opponent, too, and that made me laugh ... there might be others.) I'm not sure I would have bought the basic set -- there are no chase cards, no parallels there and there are none here, either, other than the Relic. This approach is one I wouldn't mind seeing done for other small sets given the fact that we're all having trouble finding cheaper retail rips with something unique out there in the wild.
