What's Buzz-worthy: The seemingly year-long drought on new WWE cardboard can't end soon enough, but this week's NXT release ain't coming until later in the year ... so I went with a box that was the last one on the shelf and not a bad edition this year to see what I could find. The results? Almost the same as what I found the last time I ripped into one of these. The structure of this release isn't the friendliest format -- a main set of dated highlight cards from throughout the year -- but this one keeps it simple visually without becoming mundane and that helps it improve upon last year despite having a similar approach. One thing to help mix it up here? Foilboard parallels that jump out of the pack. The Roster cards feel more like a base set here -- 50 cards -- and are also improved with stronger photos in many cases that are more portrait moments from action (in-ring or entrances) compared to the studio shots with an overwhelming backdrop last year. The printing and cutting of the stock this year also feels way more clean and sturdy -- a plus for an affordable release, too. All things considered, if I'm ripping this one it will be hobby boxes this year for me ... but there's a lot of WWE stuff to come that could get my attention, too. (Unfortunately, it's all delayed.) I'd rip into this one while you can ... it will vanish with nothing else out there to rip, especially for hobby boxes that have guaranteed ink with on-card sigs.
