What's Buzz-worthy: Yep, small sample size but I'm OK with that with this newer arrival. Donruss is an annual favorite of mine -- in pretty much any sport -- as the basics approach works and then you add on the typical stuff that makes it a modern release. The key here? Stars and Rookie Cards and that's what it comes down to with a single pack unless you somehow defy the typical standards and pull something more. This one does include some possible ink but is more realistically going to be like what is seen here -- base, inserts, RCs and some parallel action ... so it just comes down to who you land. I got Morant and Williamson -- bigs a couple years ago -- that helped out here but not a lot beyond that. I didn't hate the single-pack experience here but I did a pair of these vs. a blaster on the retail front. (NBA isn't my core focus so the price difference matters to me more here ... I'm merely a dabbler now since we're no longer in Big Rookie Chase Mode™ of a couple years ago.) All good. I think Donruss and its Optic brother are among the better brands to chase vs. Hoops and Prizm for a few reasons but I think this one you have to dabble in a little more volume to see how it can work out well.

Fun Grade: C+ (feels like average pack or less saved by a couple veterans)
