What's Buzz-worthy: With AEW having a number of Japanese stars appearing on its shows the last couple of years in high-profile spots -- its present women's champion is Hikaru Shida and she's the overwhelming presence at the top of the box design here -- I figured I'd rip into one of these relatively new boxes of what up until this year had been known as the True Heart series. This year, the name is simplified but the lineup of autographs is deeper with a ton of signers and several types of autos to be had between standard (on-card autos) some rarer special designs (stickers) and even some mini-Polaroid style autos called "cheki" with them often having inscriptions and other embellishments on the card. I found one of the special autos -- a card that essentially pays for the box or comes close based on early eBay listings I saw -- while the Sakisama auto also seemed to be a higher-value card. Why do I say "seemed" here? Well, I'll admit I was totally lost when opening this box, thinking I'd know some of the stars inside ... but the biggest name I would know, Hikaru Shida, was not in the box in any form. But I did know that five autos per box was good for the price here and Shida is on the checklist. I did land almost all of the stars who appeared in AEW's recent tournament or have been seen there -- Maki Itoh, Aja Kong, Veny, Rin Kadokura, Yuka Sakazaki, Meiko Satomura, Mei Suruga and Ryo Mizunami. ... These cards aren't like the BBM baseball sets, which typically have names not written in kanji so that made going though them a lot slower -- a helpful checklist is here. The rest of the box delivered the typical inclusions -- three inserts and three variations that have different designs and photos to help them stand out from the rest. BBM's women's sets are different as they include several (but not all) promotions' stars all in one spot -- the Stardom promotion makes its own cards and a lot of stars from around the world who are now in WWE and AEW who have worked in Japan (or came here from Japan) have had cards in those sets (and these sets) in the past. The design here is in line with a lot of past BBM releases -- a pair of studio images on the front and then somewhat extensive card backs with action photos (some quite strong) on the backs -- and the printing and packaging is crisp and clean as I have seen with other (baseball) releases I have opened. Check out the gallery for a sampling of everything ... and let me know some big names I should be looking for here if you're more in the know than I am. One intent of opening here and posting this as a Buzz Break? To see something new and explore the world of cards we don't see every day.
