What's Buzz-worthy: Buzz liked this one last time, so it was on my list of possibilities when hitting the retail wild -- and since it's perhaps the cheapest option of everything out there in the retail wild right now I bit. You'll be seeing a few of these popping up this week. ... Basically two cards were better than the norm here (Lawrence and Pitts) but it didn't blow me anyway ... but for $8 it works a lot better than $8 goes for other releases. ... I passed on this one in various other formats in the retail wild (blasters and megas) since the increased suggested retail price with a distributor bump were out-kicking my coverage (interest) as a selective NFL ripper. ... The basic set is 200 cards with 100 rookies atop that -- so one in 20 packs for any one RC you might be looking for based on this one -- and that's it save for some inserts and parallels. The Kickoff parallels are green-foil with a line of text added. The pack also was backed by a pair of Opticthome-stock cards. There are apparently Blue parallels here as well as some die-cut inserts found in these packs. Rookie autograph cards are also in play here. Price aside, I do like the design of this one -- it's a strong photo border but not overbearing. (It comes close but remains comfy for the most part.) All in all, this one surprised me but it also follows the familiar formula of past years with past and present stars all in one place. It works and it's not super-pricey. Something for nothing should still apply in the card world and I think you get a touch of that here.
Product Grade: A
Pack Grade: A- (Lawrence and Pitts got it there)
Fun Grade: B+
