What's Buzz-worthy: If you're an observant retail hunter, then you might have spotted these at at least one chain store -- and they can deliver pretty well despite their small size. This is the first National Women's Soccer League trading card set from smaller publisher Parkside Cards but they have a big bold feel to them that can easily out-do any designs from other companies. The base set here is 200 cards with a small number of un-marked photo variations limited to only 100 copies in the mix along with some parallels and inserts as seen in this sampler I picked up at a Walmart. Since this release has no competition there is a lot of demand in some instances for cards from this one -- check out this search and flip to completeds. Autographs are one in 20 packs and include Megan Rapinoe for starters, while other inserts can be far rarer (See odds in gallery.) My pack was on-par odds-wise with the Hyped card being the rarer pull (one in four) but with an odd crooked cut on the bottom of the card. (It happens ... and everything else here was sharp and clean.) I'll admit that I don't know any of the names in this pack but one -- but that's on me -- and there are some notables here sales-wise that can easily pay for your pack ($11.98) if buying at suggested retail price. Trinity Rodman, Ali Krieger, Alex Morgan, Julie Ertz, Kealia Watt and a number of others are selling well here -- with ink and the SPs pricey cards. You can find the checklist here. I don't do much soccer but this one made me want to open more to see how things looked. The fronts are simple and clean with strong photos while the backs are simple and clean with each card also noting their Instagram handles. The lesson here? Don't assume something that might not interest you on cardboard doesn't have much value. If you hit those links you'll see plenty of cards with a lot of interest ... without a premium price if you can find it out in the wild. I'll likely open more if I do.
