What's Buzz-worthy: Last year the first wave of this one sold 74,997 packs. This year? Just 26,844 -- but there are more waves to come. I'll admit this one didn't wow me at a glance but checking back at the info from Topps the Lenox parallel here is one that's limited to only 10 copies. The only thing rarer is the 1/1 Ty Cobb -- those are numbered. The Mike Trout was the only card that I thought was a standout with my RCs on the lean side (only six in the wave with Alec Bohm the big one) and the rest of the base cards not all that flashy but still with three Hall of Famers. I didn't pay attention whether the Trout and the Lenox were in the same pack or different ones but I'm glad I did two packs like I did last year. Would I do more? I'm not sure ... I was on the fence doing these but did given how lean retail finds might be out there these days. The checklist (link above) has a decent amount of star power but there are autos to chase for Freddie Freeman, Edgar Martinez, Jim Palmer, CC Sabathia and Carlos Delgado. The parallels (also noted at link above) offer some chase, too, but these feel like they could use a different approach or something more dramatic in the mix insert or parallel-wise. The card backs are parallels but who's to say they can't add some kind of simple front color variations, too?
