What's Buzz-worthy: This one was a Blowout MegaMix pack and it's one that can deliver decent results as one player in here is a bit of a phenom. The name to look for? Roki Sasaki. And Cubs rookie Seiya Suzuki is in there, too. I didn't land them and I didn't know any names here but I got out the ol' Google machine to find out that Yuhei Nakamura was an All-Star last year and the MVP of the Japan Series as his team won it all, too. Meanwhile, Shuhei Takahashi is a veteran and All-Star, while Chihiro Kaneko is a dominant pitcher who has a league MVP award and the Japanese equivalent of the Cy Young award in his closet as well as a number of other league-leading marks though the years. I beat the odds with a Gold Refractor (one in 61 packs) though that guy is a light-hitting veteran who has lasted eight seasons. There are definitely more guys to look for beyond Sasaki -- his base card topped the $150 plateau earlier this year on eBay and Refractors have strong prices attached -- and Suzuki, but they are the bigs in this first Chrome release made for fans in Japan. There's a decent chance my Gold pays for my pack as there are only 49 others out there and not a bunch of other Chrome releases for collectors to chase. And, yes, Superfractors are possible in every pack as well as a few other inserts with their own rainbows.
Product Grade: A- (set includes at least two good-money names)
Pack Grade: A- (Gold Refractor is a tougher pull)
Fun Grade: B- (Chrome packs are small as always)
