What's Buzz-worthy: I used to rip Gallery pretty hard but for whatever reason -- probably flippers and/or a perceived generous volume available -- I didn't really bite on this one for this year, despite it being a better release than some past editions in the line. Why? This one stepped back from the artwork-on-every-card formula, instead letting the crispy, foil-accented deign and photography lead the at here. This one has been since discontinued as of last year, but it had been an affordable Walmart-exclusive retail release with a relatively simple lineup of base, short-prints, inserts, hits and original artwork to be found in its mega boxes with exclusives in blasters and then other loose-pack formats. The bigger boxes cost more but guarantee ink ... so if you like the looks of this one do those boxes. This one? Well, it actually surprised me a bit with the photos and then a classy, simple frame -- but a few types -- within the set. Check out the checklist at the link above and you'll see a boatload of rookie autos but also some big names you might not expect. Since there are only two formats -- it's retail-only -- they could be in your mega box if you choose to go there if you can find them on the affordable side. If not, blasters are worth the look if not sold at a premium.
