What's Buzz-worthy: Such a monster box ... a rare parallel of Mike Trout, an autograph of a notable Yankees rookie, a poster box-topper and a mess of Rookie Cards and notables. The key is the Trout -- it can pay for a box easily and the eBay highs are, well, crazy with one going for a huge amount earlier this month -- but an auto box is always a good thing with this brand. I've not had a bad hobby box of this one this year -- I'm three-for-three for autos in hobby boxes with boxes from three different sources -- and I've pulled ink elsewhere, too, to only one Relic among all of my rips. The hobby boxes have over-delivered for me with other inserts, too, and, weirdly, I've pulled Trout as my one-per-box variation card more than once. This year's released has a super-saturated volume of RCs and stars (all with In Action cards) adding a lot of power to the mix. It's also lean on the star power in the SPs (a good thing to me, perhaps not to sellers) and then full of quirks and chase if you buy larger box sizes. The frames are colorful and quirky -- a little overwhelming on the shared RCs -- but this one is cleaner and crisper than the original 1972 set and the high volume of rookies and stars makes the first series here very strong unlike the last couple years. All in all, this was another great box for a strong annual brand and I'm not done ripping this one.
