What's Buzz-worthy: I've ripped tons of these since their arrival as a Walmart-exclusive release back in 2016 with snowflakes as the main addition to a crop of All-Stars and rookies with some parallels and a guaranteed hit all in play. The design is a little more obnoxious this year -- I like that -- but the formula is ultimately the same but with a checklist that's super-saturated with RCs. One cool thing this year? Some of the notable veterans who changed teams (see gallery) are in their new unis here and not necessarily elsewhere, which helps give this one a little extra feel to it. My box was pretty standard -- a bunch of RCs but not necessarily the best ones -- with my hit and Ornament card having good players but not necessarily good "value" players this time. My best parallel was the Vladdy but I don't think it was enough to bail out this box -- it just feels closer to average. There are variations to chase here and there are some rarer, better hits, too, but that wasn't in the cards for me this time. This year, I may be a one-and-done -- unless these dip -- as I just have had a good amount of the 2021 design before this ... though this one's obnoxiousness does make me like it more than opening, say, Series 2 or Update. There's plenty to be found in all of them this year but there's also a lot out there popping up in the retail wild that might be worth a look, too. One thing I will give this one is that it's not a $30 blaster and it guarantees a hit every time ... that's a big plus if you ask me. I may regret not opening more of these in the future but I'm focused on some other types of boxes at the moment. These? They're a good value if you're hunting off-season MLB.
