What's Buzz-worthy: At a glance this box might feel closer to average -- I felt that way -- but then I looked at the odds. The odds on a Copper Legends Relic? One in 312 -- that's one in 78 boxes (seven cases). (Note: There is a discrepancy in the color names between sell-sheets and packaging but this is the middle card of three types.) The Legends Relics in general are tough with the easiest at one in 126 -- remember, these are just four packs per box. Extra trivial good news here? The serial-numbering matches his A's uniform number he might be known for best, No. 9. ... Meanwhile, that Hunter auto is one in 24 packs -- so one in six boxes or two per case. Will those things help the re-sale value for this break? Probably not, but the Jackson is on the rarer side of things (under $40 asking price on eBay right now ... but they'll dry up fast) and the Hunter auto is a nice on-card sig where a metallic ink doesn't look bad. The Strasburg is also rarer at one in 12 packs, but I also don't see it breaking the bank along with the Andrus card which has a pretty odd high-numbering that, well, can be the norm at times for this and other high-end brands when you'd hope it wouldn't be. So, without the rarer finds to help here, this would be closer to an average box even with the Hayes appearances. The base card lineup here started off very hot -- some of those in the same pack -- while the RCs are OK with a repeat appearance in the parallels. At suggested retail price, this one is probably an OK box but a riskier one at a premium price. But, they are hot because of all the big stuff that is possible here. (Hit that link up top to see booklets and more possibly landed in yours.) All in all, this one is a release best busted by the box -- I wouldn't want a standard Relic in a single pack -- or, if you can swing it, by the case. I have always liked the feel of this one but it is one that I have had more fun with just picking off what I like via singles or by doing group breaks.
Product Grade: A- (big stuff possible but not in every box)
Box Grade: A- (you won't believe the odds on that Reggie Jackson Relic ... it gets this box to an A)
Fun Grade: B- (small boxes that don't pack big oomph every time)
