What's Buzz-worthy: Can one card make a box? To me, yes, it can and that card is the Red parallel 1991 homage from the Stadium Club Greats set that looks like a reprint on the front but a totally different back. Why? It's one in 192 packs (24 boxes) that's one per case, maybe two if you're lucky ... and I landed a good name. That original card? I've pondered grading it -- but the 1991 printing standards and materials aren't all that good ... but this one? Well, that's why you see it in a semi-rigid. (I'll grade it at some point just for a fun throwback card with a good grade. The Sepia Mountcastle isn't a bad pull, either, if parallels in team colors is a thing you like. ... As I noted last time, I like the mini version of the Master Photos -- the originals were oversized with the card image actual size -- which are unwrapped box-toppers here. This time I had some minor damage due to a box that took some hits but it's still in OK shape. (Could have been worse.) ... The stock here is the typical softer type with the gloss thick and strong, giving you a premium feel for a bargain price. Hobby boxes include a pair of on-card autos every time while the odds here are not as enticing but this one still has plenty to chase. This one is more of a collector release with some good potential with plenty of star power on the ink (big names likely quite rare in comparison to the many rookies who signed). My Rookie Card crop here was quite rough once again but the rest felt decent in this blaster. As always, this brand showcases photos well -- a trend we should see everywhere if you ask me -- and that can make standard cards stand out from the pack and spark more demand/value. I'll offer more thoughts on this one with future breaks when I do them.
