Onyx Mat Relic Autographs (1) – Asuka (/50)

What's Buzz-worthy: When this autograph-per-box line made its debut in 2020 I immediately pre-ordered a case. This time around, I played the wait-and-see game for the checklist and I think it's on par and in some ways better than the first. However, we don't get a third release as Topps' time in the ring is, for now, over. This one includes a run of young stars and first-time autos -- but not auto-Relics -- as well as some legendary names on ink, too, but I think you can expect some of those to flow on the rarer side of things (see odds in gallery). This box? It included a rarer mat auto of a top name from Japan in WWE right now -- so I definitely could have had a lesser find for sure. I have two other boxes of this one to present here in the coming days/weeks, too, as I have finally decided to get my hands on some of these. This one? One in 79 boxes (four cases). Its mat piece is a little funky with a torn edge and there's a spot of ink on the bottom border showing these were fully assembled when signed but the scarcity part of it I'm still good with it. Other finds in this one include printing plate autos, Relics for gear, tables, ladders, chairs, turnbuckle pads and garbage cans. A number of WWE releases dropped all in a short amount of time so that prices on some stuff may be soft but this one is pretty solid. I think it may be a better one for singles collectors to just grab who they want -- there will be boxes that under-deliver simply because not all names are big names here -- but there are some nice things to chase here, too. I'd buy in some quantity for best results but singles boxes, as you can see here, can at times deliver well, too.
