What's Buzz-worthy: AEW fans have been waiting for this one since it was revealed at a previous National Sports Collectors Convention but it's here with blaster boxes delivering a hit-level card in pretty much every box from what I have seen at a fraction of the hobby boxes that also deliver one-per ... with sometimes those hits being Wednesday In Action cards (that aren't auto or mem) just like what's possible here. This one included a parallel of the hit (not serial-numbered but likely a tad rarer than other versions) as well as as slightly rarer Dynamite parallel of a key name here. The Golds and Canvas cards also delivered key names while the overall volume of parallels and inserts was good -- very comfortable for the price. (I'd keep in mind that e-Pack is still coming for this release so singles prices will/should soften.) Autographs are rare here in both formats while it looks like memorabilia cards are the heaviest in both formats, too. I did a trio of boxes at SRP ($19.99) with similar results on all three (a memorabilia card per) so that's likely the norm more than its not with the set being pretty small so this one will be do-able, though some subsets are slightly SP'd if you look at the odds closely. Over time, I don't think those will be rare. This format did seem to have a lot of cards with tweaked top-left corners as well as a lot of surface dents and upper right edge issues (a big deal if you contemplate grading) but overall it's a comfortable first release -- though delays between its creation and arrival did mean a lot of new additions were not found in this release. There are tiers for cards here so some autos are going to be a lot rarer than others but overall I think the singles prices will get smoother over time despite its landmark status as the first official AEW set. Will I do more beyond my first three blasters? Perhaps, though I will pick off singles as they stack up from the e-Pack routine first. Prices on a lot of the autos right now -- Jim Ross ink, for example was over $100 despite him not being a tough signer -- are high for my taste so I'm playing the long game with what I want to track down ... after all, the second release is in the works and has been revealed as you can see at the store link up top.
Product Grade: B+ (delays hurt this one ... a lot of notables not in here)
Box Grade: A
Fun Grade: A (a lot of variety even in these small boxes between subsets and inserts)
