A "liquid" style spot gloss on inserts.

What's Buzz-worthy: The Black and White Matte hanger boxes may have just arrived at retail this week -- this is the first I have seen them and the blasters are not set to drop until later this month -- and they are a simple $12 way to dabble with some draft picks with premium potential if you're lucky enough to find a chase pack inside instead of the standard ones. (Standard packs are black wrappers in Black packs, white in White packs -- but Red Chase packs are found in place of black packs and Blue Chase packs are found in place of white. They have rarer stuff inside.) I landed a standard pack both times here -- look for a White pack here tomorrow -- and you get a premium feel here with base cards that almost feel like they are printed on plastic with high gloss (think old Fleer Sports Illustrated releases) and then on the three inserts they are matte surface with thick almost "liquid" feeling spot gloss that really make them feel different. I landed two top QBs in this pack along with the Heisman winner on one of my inserts. These hangers include three inserts and there are versions only found here (see the box image in gallery). The base set isn't huge here so you should get 1/10th of the base set each time and that should mean a decent shot at notables seen on the box. Would I do it again? Perhaps, though that migth just be because these are my first in-person look at anything from the rebooted brand. These look cleaner to me than the hobby versions (though maybe those just didn't scan well) and there is plenty of talent to be found here. I think I actually like the White design better on this release -- look for it right here on The Buzz tomorrow.
