What's Buzz-worthy: If you're a regular buyer of Donruss, then this one will fit your needs. I didn't immediately jump on a box of this one as I'm just not feeling the blocks in the base design or the tweaked version of 1988 Donruss that just feels wrong for the base cards but likely does look better on parallels. I went with the single-pack approach with this one and, well, it actually over-delivered if you're a Blue Jays fan or if you like inserts. These include three Holo Reds (I got four) and a Vector parallel, which I landed on an insert for a guy I collect, which was a plus. Throw in a numbered parallel insert an a variation of a top name (variations have the card numbers on the right side, regular ones it's on the left) and then a decent mix of RCs and subset cards. All in all for a single pack, this one wasn't bad -- not all cards are in the gallery, either. I think this one will look better with some shine as an Optic release but I think this will be all I do beyond maybe some type of larger box with guaranteed hits if it presents itself -- just so I can gauge things with a little more volume. Will I do a ton beyond that? Probably not unless somebody on the auto or memorabilia checklist strikes me as a growing need later this season. Hobby boxes can deliver well for the price -- I'd definitely suggest that as long as you're good with the look. There's a lot to find in that format.
Product Grade: B+
Pack Grade: A (over-delivered on inserts with some good names attached as well as numbered card)
Fun Grade: B
