What's Buzz-worthy: I think this is a retail-only (and possibly one chain only) release and it's as simple as it gets -- a non-sports ticket stub cut and placed into a card and then encased to present -- inside each $32 box. Ticketmaster-style stubs aren't the flashiest of tickets so even a simple approach like this makes them more commodified (as cards that have some continuity) and then condition isn't as much of a worry, either, as they can be with stubs that are longer or could be missing parts or marked for entry to an event. (This show took place in Mansfield, Mass., and was 16 songs with a two-song encore if you were wondering.) The cards do have a number -- TS-379 here -- so there could/should be a checklist out there in the world somewhere but I didn't find it. Among the teased names on the box here are Prince, the Eagles, Rascal Flatts, Aerosmith and Ozzy Osbourne but just some of the active eBay auctions show Elton John, Cher, Adele, Matchbox 20, Creed, Shawn Mendes, Alan Jackson, Barry Manilow, Ashlee Simpson, Neil Diamond, Ariana Grande, ZZ Top, Lady Gage, Pearl Jam, J-Lo, The Chicks, Eddie Vedder, Aretha Franklin, Sting, The Beach Boys, Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys and even Lynyrd Skynyrd. Actual sales here for singles have hit as high as $104 (Depeche Mode) but others like Beyonce, Crosby-Stills-Nash, Dolly Parton, Vanilla Ice (really), Queen, Phish, Taylor Swift, ZZ Top, The Who and a ton of others have sold for more than the box price. To some degree, the mystery of not knowing who might be in there got me to bite -- and I might do it again -- though really singles might be the way to go here if you're picky. I popped this one for the surprise factor.
