What's Buzz-worthy: This one was weird as almost all of my inserts were identical to my previous box -- an extra New Age last time turned into a Big Bang this time. The rest of the box was the typical dark-but-flashy mix but without an autograph this time and with a jersey card instead. That could have pushed it more toward average territory but I still landed a J-Rod insert that I like here and a couple veterans of note here and there to avoid a C ... barely. These boxes deliver decent volume and the guaranteed hit helps a lot vs. other retail brands ... plus I landed my pair of these for about half price of original so that takes some sting away. ... As I said before, they say don't let the cover fool you with books -- and I think that thought applies here with these Padres brown boxes ... that just isn't the right feel here. This one feels like something from the deluxe Fleer years with some touches of Pacific Trading Cards with some nods to stuff like Black, Crusade and Elite all rolled into one. If the basic look here works for you it should all work for you as a cheaper break with some potential. ... My player selection once again wasn't that great among the basics -- the 100 base cards and the 100 Luxury Suite cards atop that seem like there's a deep checklist here based on these names. The RC presence can be erratic, though, as my previous blaster had twice as many RCs as this time.

Product Grade: A- (a very premium feel ... but simple in feel)
Box Grade: B- (hit in every box helps ... but not an auto this time)
Fun Grade: C (for me this wasn't good ... almost all inserts were same as previous box)
