What's Buzz-worthy: Chronicles is a brand I'll rip in any sport and I pretty much have ... but this one felt as lean as it gets for a variety-packed fun brand for a collector. Why? This could easily have just been a pack -- 20 cards -- and, while the variety was there for sure, it felt pretty flat. The Chronicles part of the set is tiny, though technically it's all the set here save for parallels and a couple inserts ... but the streamlined approach with a small box just made it all feel flat. Perhaps this is just this format ... but I'm not enough of a basketball draft diehard to dig in for more or even another of these. (This was a box in a small bargain lot and my first rip of it. I skipped it back at arrival in favor of probably the football equivalent.) This has some notables -- Holmgren is a nice card, Bird ain't bad and that Skinny Shaq would have been a fun card save for a massive surface dent/blotch on it ... it happens but that one left a bad taste in my mouth even at a discounted price. I buy Chronicles and rip it for the variety and fun for sure, but this particular one might not be high on my list, though there's a lot to pick.
