What's Buzz-worthy: Double the size, double the price ... but only four more inserts/SPs than a jumbo pack. So that means more than double the base cards (plus some) and almost a quarter of the base set here. Generally, I don't do all that many loosies from the retail wild -- and I hadn't really paid attention to these larger formats (due to the larger price) but the sheer girth got my curiosity piqued here so I bit. What did I get? A lot of base, some damaged cards and, well, disappointment as the best rookie parallel (Olave ... bottom-left corner) is among those with condition issues due to the type of packaging. It seems odd here that you get almost a quarter of the 200-card veterans (base) portion of the set in every pack here. That kind of a move would be better with a larger set and makes me think that even the best of the best here won't be that valuable at all later as things have to be plentiful. (We'll see.) The rest here was pretty standard stuff. If we get the return of clearance bins with any kind of substantial discounts, the sheer volume here might make these safer rips in comparison to other packs. But I think these are perhaps more for a beginner wanting volume and a safer play might be blasters ... maybe. Just depends why you're ripping. ... As I said last time, I like the design this year and the photo framing on the card backs -- and the backs in general here -- might be the ideal in my collecting mind save for a couple of basics. Meanwhile, the fronts do a good job of showcasing photos. The stock here has been a chippy, soft frustration in past years but this year's feels a little different and cleaner, which means there should be more grading-worthy finds here than perhaps recent years. This is the kind of set that I like when it's affordable so I wouldn't really rip in larger, pricier formats ... but in smaller bites I don't mind it. This one isn't for a massive monster chase ... it feels more like a brand for collectors and its fundamentals like photos and design are pretty tight.
