What's Buzz-worthy: These boxes don't appear to guarantee a hit -- I didn't get one and there's no marking on the box -- but a numbered parallel only found in blasters is assured in every box. This time? Hall of Famer Joe Montana. I haven't seen whether numbered inserts are in the mix here but if it's only base cards as numbered parallels this one is one in 400 boxes. The base design is a little retro clunky for my taste -- it's not bad but I feel like I already did 1992 -- but the insert mix here is always one where there's a lot to find and, for example, I found four Alabama guys here among the inserts alone for it to hit a sweet spot for me. I doubt I'll do a ton more without a basic guaranteed hit -- n0t a totally new thing but I expect something, especially with the price a little higher than the previous norm -- but the insert volume and variety here is good and a draw for me. The RCs in this box did include some notables from this young season but I'm not sure any big-name guys have truly emerged just yet on the field that would translate into a big card among the basic RCs in a brand like this one. But, as a collector, it's one I might chew on if I were a 100-percent NFL fan as there's a lot here and rookies in their pro uniforms, too.

Product Grade: B+ (not a big fan of the new old design for the base set)
Box Grade: A (Montana as the numbered parallel is a win ... that's at best one in 400 boxes for any particular player)
Fun Grade: B+ (good rookie and insert volume here)
