What's Buzz-worthy: What happens when the tobacco card aesthetic of the early 1900s meets the science fiction saga from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away? Buzz buys about seven packs of this one -- and I wasn't alone as this wave, which is one without autographs to chase, sold 25,102 packs direct from Topps.com. Not bad for just plain cardboard. I'm sold on this concept -- it's weird enough to work in my eyes, though I like minis -- and the third wave is winding down its sale window now, meaning Wave 4 is coming next week. Will I do more? It depends how my next packs go and who shows up on the checklists -- I actually passed on the second and third waves sicne key names I'd want didn't make the cut. (Yet.) ... This one is arriving in multiple 50-card waves with 10 cards per pack and most having eight base cards and two Blue parallels but both of my packs here over-delivered on that. Logo backs are one in three packs, while the Orange are one in five ... so I did well. The best card to me, though, in this batch is the Leia base and it's among a few I'd want to find in the set. The others I'd want I didn't find in my first three packs. Perhaps that's a sign that this checklist is a bit deep and it may be complicated with some duplication possible here, too. (My third pack had some of the same names so I held it to Buzz Break with another pack on the way to me in my second batch arriving tomorrow.) All in all, the color is a hit here as the nicer cards but the basics are true to the originals. I'll offer more thoughts when I break more from this wave ... and it's inevitable I'll do more of the later waves when the names pop that I like. All in all, this one is quirky but I think it's an affordable winner.
