What's Buzz-worthy: I grabbed this one from the discount bin not realizing it was 2022 but that's fine -- cheap Ginter blasters are pretty consistent long-odds rips no matter what the year. There really weren't any surprises here at all, though the Hall of Famer volume vs. everything else in the base was interesting. (Really even that's not that surprising, though.) ... I have slowed my roll on ripping Ginter in recent years after being a heavy -- likely my top brand early on -- buyer and this is another box that kind of shows why. It's fine but the chase just doesn't feel like it's there in this format. ... Aesthetically, the slight addition of some texture to the outer edges here make this one feel a little different than the other years and helps frame things a little better than the blank-slate approach -- that I do like and I think it is aging well. Ginter hobby boxes sometimes being three hits without ink remains a bummer for the price. If you beat the odds and land a good name on a good hit then you can win there ... but that's not all that easy in a hobby box, let alone a blaster. For guaranteed stuff, though, do the hobby boxes until they disappear.
