What's Buzz-worthy: This one is a one-card win-or-lose scenario when you pop the lid, though there's a good rainbow of possibilities to find for many cards here, too, to help if you didn't land a big-name guy. I was a little underwhelmed when I popped the lid on this one but then I checked his stats from last year for this former All-Star ... better than I remembered. This year? Not so good (injury) but I think I could have found lesser names here with a lot of young players a part of the checklist. The card as seen up tip looks pretty good as I laid a plug below the card to take pics since my background is back -- you get a good look at the image with that extra touch. I like that a lot, actually, compared to the natural look as you can see below. Helping out here value-wise was the parallel but ultimately this one is closer to average. I gave it the low B grade as this is one in 23 boxes. (And I do like the look of the 1987s as clear cards.) There are a lot of names to find here -- Wander Franco, Bobby Witt Jr., J-Rod, Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, Vladdy Jr., Bryce Harper, Bo Jackson, Mark McGwire, Mike Trout, Ronald Acuña Jr., Derek Jeter, Ichiro Suzuki and so many more. I'm probably moving more toward collecting without a lot of base cards in my life -- or at least that's a mental goal -- so releases like this work for me perhaps moreso than ever as long as the price doesn't get too high to make the misses hurt too much vs. the hits. Naturally, the biggest names will be lower volume vs. young (cheaper) signers but they are still in there and that's a reason to rip.
