What's Buzz-worthy: This isn't some long-delayed in-pack GPK release that you missed -- it's one of six previous small online-released sets from Topps that focuses its attention to parodying a certain niche. In this, icons of the 1990s take the shots -- and it actually dropped back in April but has been in my photo stash for a while after arriving in June due to stock shortages. (Basically, I forgot about it and it was buried in my photos.) Right now -- launched just today, even -- the Kids are taking on the 1980s just like this -- so if you know a Ferris Bueller fan, well, it's a day to go look. Now, back to the 1990s. ... These sets are made to order and are only available for one week -- only 1,103 ordered for this one so only that many should exist -- and I bit with The Big Lebowski getting the first card and then a Clueless homage that's pretty classic, too. The only chase in these are a single parallel card in every set with every card among the possibilities. I've noted in my standard GPK breaks that the celeb and movie/music stuff grabs me the most. I grabbed one other set from this wave and even both parallels for one card I really liked -- see it in Buzz Buys next month -- and ultimately the Lebowski stuff here (and maybe Clueless) will end up in slabs. The others? Not really my thing but maybe there's a Suzanne Somers/Thighmaster fan out there along with some hair fans and spiked stress ball fans out there who'll collect 'em? Maybe not ... but I bet there are a number of diehards who want everything GPK. I ripped a few boxes of the 1990s set this one updates ... it's a classic.
