The box: 2022 Topps Heritage High Number baseball cards (blaster Hot Box)
Where to buy: BlowoutCards.com (for hobby)
First Buzz preview & checklist: Click here
Keep reading for a full breakdown and gallery for what was found in this one.
Packs per box: 8
Cards per pack: 9
Cards in this box: 72
Base set completion:
58 of 200 (29 percent)
Duplicates: 0
Notables on base cards – Matt Olson, Corey Seager ... quite a weak box for base stars this time.
RC logo cards (20) – Notables include Hunter Greene, MacKenzie Gore, Bryce Elder, Royce Lewis and others (see all in gallery ... plus a Rookie Card without a logo)
Insert/short-print cards: 14 (all in gallery below with some base)
Short-prints (Nos. 401-500) (2) – Connor Seabold (RC), Janson Junk (RC)
1973 MLB All-Star Game Highlights (1) – Hank Aaron
1973 Topps Comics (1) – Joey Votto
Rookie Performers (1) – Oneil Cruz
Combo Cards (1) – Mike Trout & Shohei Ohtani
Purple Hot Box Refractors (8) – Jake McCarthy, Jack Lopez, Edward Cabrera, Drew Smyly, Trevor Story, Cristian Pache, Liam Hendriks, Juan Yepez
Autographs/Memorabilia: None
What's Buzz-worthy: Can't hate a Hot Box ... but this bargain bin find was pretty rough on that Purple front and downright bad on the base and middling on the rookies (none of the best names) but the inserts did deliver some star power with Ohtani, Trout and Aaron cameos. Overall, I'll give it a strong B since these boxes are found on the case level and it still had some star power -- just not Purples or rookies I'd be hoping for here as that crop is a nice one. ... If I liked the 1973 design more, this set might have landed an A+ grade overall. As a collector, this is the kind of release we need to see more of -- a lot to chase -- but without a price that forces one to rip and flip since it's so expensive. It's a better experience with hobby for the price -- a guaranteed hit and more along with a near-set in every box. I say rip those until they rise up or dry up and then snack on these blasters or the megas later as long as they are reasonably priced.
Product Grade: A
Box Grade: B+
Fun Grade: B+ (Hot but not very hot this time)
