What's Buzz-worthy: Could have been better, could have been worse -- that was about my only thought here after I was done but that wasn't without some drama as I didn't find my J-Rod and Spencer Strider cards until my final two packs. Without them, to me, a box would be a stone cold dud unless there was something big among the inserts or the hit. But, ultimately, since this box wasn't deficient and since it was actually a pretty low price I kept it at the same grade as my last non-Hot hobby box that also had a Relic and a Refractor ... though both should probably check in more toward the B+ territory. ... Like that last one, it still ran warm with a boatload of rookies, some good names among the inserts and one rarer card that could have been a monster had it been a bigger name. The Refractor here? One in 81 packs -- not the rarest pull but one that is found roughly only three times per case. ... The set is cleaner cut than the first series -- those back cuts aren't nearly as rough as the first series -- and that makes this one a winner for those who will grade. Some still had issues just not as often as last time. The inserts here had some good variety and some decent names but the semi-industrial simple design of 1973 kind of is seen there ... not always in the best way. The All-Star Game insert design is very good vs. everything else, though, so there are some highlights here I want to analyze on the checklist and ponder my next moves. The ink didn't flow for me at all in my so far three boxes -- not the norm for me in recent years -- but I did land an Action variation which is one in 66 packs, though I think these boxes will offer up some type of variation every time. If I liked the 1973 design more this one might have landed an A+ grade overall. As a collector, this is the kind of box we need to see more of -- a lot to chase -- but without a price that forces one to rip and flip since it's so expensive.

Product Grade: A
Box Grade:
A- (not flashy but plenty of the basics and some good names)
Fun Grade: B
