What's Buzz-worthy: My first hobby box of this one was a three-Franco Hot Box monster so it left a good impression about this trip back to 1973. This one? About the same with a Relic as the hit but more back-to-reality ... with only one Franco insert (which I didn't land last time). I got a variation this time and a Black parallel, too, but nothing on the Chrome front ... still enough to barely get this one an A. It's not flashy but I didn't hate it at all. If I was a half-case in on these for this year it probably wouldn't grade as well ... but it still felt solid, though my hit was nothing to write home about. The Black parallel is one in 96 packs. ... The RC volume here is pretty solid with some good names while the inserts in this box were strong with a few names but not all big names. The printing seems a little retro as there are cards with some brighter white on fronts than others and the backs are admittedly chippy and have dark spots here and there as black and yellow aren't the most-friendly colors on oldschool stock. ... There's a lot to like and chase here (see checklist with all of the variations noted above) but you'll need some luck to find many of them. Flippers probably won't be in on this one that hard ... so I think it might be worth the look if it lingers. Heritage is always a brand that can deliver even if it's not all that flashy.
