What's Buzz-worthy: This Blowout MegaMix pack is admittedly a mystery to me as I don't know the lineup of inclusions overall but I'll examine these at face value here in what feels like previews of what's to come this year for the brand. The two low-volume cards are of a top prep slam dunk highlight reel guy who will be a 2024 NBA Draft prospect in here on an NIL deal, while the other is a former Duke star headed to the Atlanta Hawks after being a first-round pick. The basic cards here -- a MATTE White preview of sorts included a young MiLB prospect faring pretty well in the lower level for the Dodgers, two more first-round NBA picks, a first-round NFL pick from USC and then a fifth-rounder from Boise State. Aesthetically, I like the touches here with the foil, the matte stock and the clean look and clean cuts. The two insert designs are simple, though I do feel like I have seen them before, while the card backs are as lean as it gets and don't help add any info or context for the most part in a release that is devoid of NCAA names or logos. (I think if they're going this minimal, they could try some other kind of approach ... maybe something with photos, though that would mean more logo work.) The feel of these cards is strong but in my case with this single pack I didn't really find anything that felt "big" to me, though the lower volumes on the two inserts were enough to let it squeak out an A grade this time. (I'm not sure how high the insert volumes go ... this could be more average but I didn't mind the mix.) Had I landed some players among my school ties I'd be all-in on this pack. The clean feel and production here does put the Matte releases on my to-try radar once I see them in-person.
