What's Buzz-worthy: This release is a small one, but it's jam-packed with all kinds of surprises if you're one who rips in volume to rack up more of the hits that truly make this release unique as it examines the history of taking to the air. Among the memorabilia cards to be found here? Apollo 14 flight-used pudding and pudding packaging for Astronauts -- really -- along with Hindenburg relics, Apollo 9 and Apollo 11 flight memorabilia, Charles Lindbergh and Howard Hughes pieces, Neil Armstrong and Wally Schirra pieces, cut autos and even stuff from newer flight-related celebs such as Michael Jordan and William Shatner. My hit this time? The easiest type, a movie relic for a Star Trek film (one of 11 films to make the cut with several characters/scenes possible within each). Those are the hits and they are all showcased in a small "passport" mini magazine that's a box-topper 24 pages of breaking everything down here. The only surprise was the pack number -- 12 in a box that could hold more -- but that ultimately wasn't a real issue as the set is small (all 40 base cards landed and 22 different SPs among the 30 there). This would be a fun one ripping by the case if you're chasing a bit of everything. The really rare stuff among the finds here can be pricey but this box wasn't, really, when I found it at a reduced price. Ripping a lot of packs only will rack up a lot of base -- the cards are cleanly made and could be slab-worthy most of the time if you like grading -- but the inserts help balance what you find for hits other-wise. At a reduced price, I'd do more ... and I might. This was an interesting first taste.
Product Grade: A- (small set and small box ... but big potential among the rarer hits)
Box Grade: B (film cards are the easiest finds)
Fun Grade: B
