What’s Buzz-worthy: My latest pack of these yields an iconic name from the 1960s and 1970s (read more about her life and career here) and this perhaps more of the traditional find in a lot of sets like these ... big names from long ago that aren't as pricey to land ink from now. More and more newer stars are open to this but they still charge more ... so that means cardboard economy realities can limit who makes a checklist. Yet, at the same time, Pop Century has been including some of those big names among both past and present stars. Ink doesn't happen here, of course, but all those big names are possible and that's part of the appeal to me with these is the wide array of possibilities with everything being a 1/1. ... As noted before, the prices on these should be a little more friendly without slabs and ink like some past years for these proofs but the lineup in Pop Century was as stacked as it gets -- so there should still be bigger-interest cards here. At the same time, there are many varieties per card with all the colors and textures. ... Overall, I like this approach as it's something that could trend affordable while remaining unique and something that could pique the interests of a lot of collectors out there with all of the various genres found here.
