What’s Buzz-worthy: I had expected something different to arrive in the mail today, but alas, weather ... so I'll revisit this one once again this week with a doubleheader of something unique. She's a player agent and the founder of Luba Sports -- a career that came after time as a UCLA gymnast and then as a lawyer working arbitration cases for the MLBPA. Her cards here aren't her first ... but when's the last time you saw an agent on a card? That's one reason why I don't mind these packs at all -- there are a lot of names without a lot of cardboard and some other surprises, too. ... As I noted last time, this set is a landmark one with its focus -- a set focusing on women's sports stars and others around the sports realm -- and ripping a box or two is on my radar but, for now, I picked off a small lot of these promo packs as a taste test for how things look in-hand. The backs are blank here with the proof sticker on the backs for cards that are of the unsigned kind in regular boxes. ... There are some names here with serious collector followings -- soccer star Sophia Smith, for example, has had a lot of these cards sell for more than $50 and as high as $100. She's not alone, though there also are a lot who also don't sell for as much. ... There are many varieties per card with all the colors and textures and in this case the proofs are not in stickered-shut top-loaders this time -- that might tweak the feel here slightly -- but overall, I like this approach as it's something that could trend affordable while remaining unique and something that could pique the interests of a lot of collectors out there. There's a lot to find here as you'll see in my remaining packs.
