What’s Buzz-worthy: My latest pair of packs here comes from a sport not as heavily represented on cardboard -- well, as long as it's not Livvy Dunne -- and one is recently active and one is retired but now in the coaching ranks. McCright is a recent Clemson graduate, while Smith is a former Oklahoma Sooner now coaching at Iowa State after a career that included time on the USA Gymnastics national team before the college years. Both are proof you never know what you might find here and they're my latest finds in these sub-$6 1/1 packs. Why open? This set is a landmark one with its focus -- a set focusing on women's sports stars and others around the sports realm. ... The backs are blank here and ink doesn't happen here, of course, but a lot of big names are possible and that's part of the appeal. ... There are many varieties per card with all the colors and textures and in this case the proofs are not in stickered-shut top-loaders this time -- that might tweak the feel here slightly -- but overall, I like this approach as it's something that could trend affordable while remaining unique and something that could pique the interests of a lot of collectors.
