What's Buzz-worthy: I'm again making an effort to dabble with small pack breaks here -- call it a New Year's Resolution a little early -- though it's more for a couple practical reasons. One, with all the big SRPs on boxes these days there just aren't that many brands -- fewer and fewer really -- where I'd commit my collecting dollars to a big box without some bigger return ... and I have to actually like something a lot there, too. Secondly, the hit factor -- there isn't enough juice in a lot of them for my taste (and a hit is an autograph or memorabilia card not an insert or short-print ... I expect those, too). Hits aren't going to be a routine thing here in this format but at least the price is realistic and the variety is high ... so a smaller pack break is more of a pure for-collector response from me. I didn't land anything truly big here -- even for this brand -- but there were key names in all spots -- Rice, Bowers, Mahomes and Daniels for starters -- to make it feel like a decent pack for a collector who likes good names and fun cards and isn't worried about immediate value. ... Just like last year, Score packs plenty of inserts in a pack, while the base set works in past stars among the first 300 with the last 100 players being rookies. It's not the crispest package of stuff but I have definitely seen rougher options with higher prices attached. As a collector, I'll probably dabble here more. If you like this one and want a bigger bite, hit the link pop top for a lot more and guaranteed hits. If it dips, I might.
