What's Buzz-worthy: My earlier impressions of 2024 Topps Heritage -- via some hangers and a pair of giant (mega) boxes -- were erratic and a bit underwhelming. Hangers included just two inserts every time I ripped into them while more than one single pack here from a blaster equaled that and one included three. (Half the box.) The giants delivered more volume (and about double what this one did) for rookies and inserts but seemed peculiarly lean on the base card star power. This one? It delivered on all three fronts and included my first hit of the year via a Relic, which looks to be roughly one in eight boxes or so here. All that and some strong names get this one an A-grade out of me but it still can definitely be topped as big stuff can be found here ... just at long odds. (Like all formats of Heritage.) Had this box been my first impression, I'm sure it would have led to more ripping of this one this year so far -- and it might still -- but even this one reinforces that hobby boxes are your best way to go as long as you don't over-pay there. (A hit of some type should be guaranteed and typically some kind of variant will pop out of a box, too, but that's not always a given.) ... As I said in other breaks, the stock here is light and chippy -- too light and chippy -- while the backs are often too dark to read things on them, which isn't ideal, either. The printing and cutting is cleaner than 1975, though, and the colorful yet industrial spirit of the 1975 design comes through here for sure. The design is arguably better than much of the last few years for Heritage, too.
