The Grinch played ball with one of my tins, leaving all top corners looking a little less than fresh this time. (It happens.)
What's Buzz-worthy: So ... why two? Well, it seems as The Grinch played ball with one of my tins or maybe Ebenezer Scrooge was handling my mail. There were a couple of dents in one tin that were a sign -- after it arrived out of a bulging box where the big-chain shipper decided that three round tins could somehow fit into a rectangular (make it a parallelogram) box as long as the tape held. It held ... but that pressure from the wedging and a few hits in transit broke the plastic holder inside one tin and the top of the pack did its best Bill Goldberg against the metal a few times. (The good news? My ornament insert escaped unscathed ... since it has no corners.) It happens, but the real bummer here is that the tin that took a licking was the home to almost all of the top RCs found this time ... I'll survive. (My other tins in the box were fine and a second one joins this break to help keep it festive.) ... As I noted before, there's nothing subtle about this one's look and its theme. You get a variation in every tin and ornament inserts are one in three. There are other parallels of the Trees here and that's about the only chase other than the variations. (Hits are in boxes every time.) ... The design is a little heavy but since my flagship buying was easily at an all-time low this year between all three series this one offers up a good chase for stars in a more concentrated form with a quarter of the base set in every tin. This is perfect for a dabbler and a box will give you a hit every time with potential for even more ... this brand, as with most years, is a no-brainer to try at least once and there's a lot to be found -- easier odds and longer odds -- if you rip into a box.
Product Grade: A (nothing subtle about this design ... so, to a degree, it might be improved over some past years)
Lot Grade: B+ (would have been an A+ lot without damage)
Fun Grade: B (for the price, it's low-risk with a good mix -- but boxes are safer)
