What's Buzz-worthy: Remember my Opening Day break where I said that a hobby box needed more? If not, a basic star that says it all ... there were 20 inserts in my hobby box. This one at a small fraction of the price? Eleven ... and to top things off the top of my pack was an Elly De La Cruz Rookie Card. That and a Gold parallel -- only in every other hobby box -- made this one a winner. Simple as that. ... The real star here? The simplicity of touches in the base set, which is printed with a foil effect that makes the neon highlights here pop -- it's like it's on foilboard but not for the whole image like those parallels (you can't see it in these images) -- and the printing here is crisp and sharp, arguably cleaner than flagship sets have been in a while. Those black corners will still be hit and miss for grading but everything else here looks sharp. I think examining how inserts and parallels are spread out -- and adding more where it would help -- needs an immediate look. More, more, more is needed -- and this one shows how some exclusives really help the variety and make a rip of a basic flagship release a lot more fun.
