What's Buzz-worthy: The neon is back and this one already has captured attention -- rightfully so -- with Jackson Holliday SP variation cards that are an homage to the 1989 Fleer Billy Ripken "Face" card that's replayed here as "Fun Face." All that, I dig ... but what happens when you land none of that? Well, this one was pretty average ... at best. Granted, this was a small format, but others that I ripped today with this one delivered a bit better ... but I started here. The foilboard-like neon approach is back but it's also perhaps not as clean as Series 1 with corners -- especially corners on parallel cards and foil inserts on the outsides of packs -- and some top/bottom denting issues that I also spotted in Heritage. (It's somewhat common ... but I would prefer it not be there at all as I'd like to grade good finds here.) ... Was the hanger a banger? Not for me. The highlight here is the simplicity of touches in the base set, which is printed with a foil effect that makes the neon highlights here pop -- it's like it's on foilboard but not for the whole image like those parallels -- and the printing here is crisp and sharp for the most part but I did see a few kind of washed-out cards among the base here and there that made me wonder how they might age. In the first series I questioned whether some re-thinking was needed on how inserts and parallels are spread out but the mix in a blaster and a retail mega box that I opened here were meaty on that front ... so expect a little more fireworks in those Buzz Breaks over this one.

Product Grade: A- (probably only thanks to Fun Face, which is an A+ homage inclusion)
Box Grade: C+ (pretty standard this time ... also seems like more corner and edge funk vs. Series 1)
Fun Grade: C (other formats I ripped delivered better than this ... stay tuned)
