What's Buzz-worthy: I had quite a bit of déjà vu with the base here -- a lot of the same good names but also some others with a couple I'd want to find still eluding me. Meanwhile, my small lineup of inserts was packed with quality names and some slightly rarer finds. Really, only one of my inserts wasn't a good name either as a top talent or a notable newcomer, while the set is crisp and clean for the most part with a lot of newcomers and new looks. A simple little box that was solid. ... If you like to grade, there are still some condition issues regularly appearing out of these packs -- curls on corners -- but not on nearly every card such as in previous years. (This one might have had more than last time, though.) The base set is small in the big picture -- 100 cards with 70 stars, 20 tag teams and trios and then 10 card labeled as crew, which are announcers and referees. There are a lot of parallels to be found and even in these small boxes there are a few ... just not as much depth for inserts. The bigger packs and fewer inserts mean a big chunk of the set every time in every blaster. That may not help values in the long run but it does give you volume to collect and more good names. (If the set was three times larger, then stars would arrive less often.) I think a hobby box is next on my radar for this one at some point soon, though they can be somewhat risky without a hit in every box. Why? A lot of the younger key names in AEW don't have as much cardboard in general vs. WWE, which has seen more releases in recent years. Plus, this one has serious collector vibes vs. a high-end hit chase.
