(* -- Technically, this entire product is a parallel as the checklist is the same as standard Score this year. Since the rookies are numbered separately from the veterans on a checklist of their own, they are technically inserts here atop being a parallel version of Score. For simplicity, I'll break these sets apart in this way here instead of calling everything an insert.)
Autographs/Memorabilia: None in this release.
What's Buzz-worthy: My second and last tray of this one? A missing pack ... and that's atop the dramatic changes that made this one a lot less fun to even look at this year. So, with that said, here's what I said last time. ... This candy alternative for Halloween is, in some ways, dramatically different than last year, which will make this a dull break if you opt to open one of these $20 trays expecting a chase. Gone are a pair of set colors in every pack with everything here the same this time -- orange pumpkins -- while other parallels are now serial-numbered with three types. Those are Bats, Trick or Treat and Webs with the easiest /399 and the rarer ones /31. The issue? It's one in 125 packs for a parallel card -- or one in four boxes. Atop that, it's a 300-card base set and 100 rookies ... so your odds of a good name on a parallel are not easy if you do land one. What does that mean? Well, if you do land a good one you might get more for it ... but these boxes are not fun to open at all if you like any kind of variety. And, I guess, technically, this isn't one built for the traditional collector -- it's for Halloween -- but with box prices for even basic stuff like Score relatively pricey this kind of budget-minded rip alternative really isn't drawing me in at all like it should and did last year ... I suspect I might not be alone. A good thing here is that the cards are on the more typical Score stock and are glossed -- unlike last year's really basic feel. There being no chase in most boxes, well, that means you'll see just one more rip of these from me (I ordered two) and that's it until these hit the retail discount bin along with the candy in November. I'm not sure why the inserts needed to be numbered or rarer here ... and does that one extra step really cost so much that they need to be as rare as they are? This would be really fun with five or 10 parallel types and something from those seeded into every pack ... or even last year's approach with more numbered stuff added if they want to add value. I may not rip a lot of football going forward -- from any company -- as stuff like this just doesn't seem to make sense atop the here/coming licensing barriers of teams and players you may or may not find. Adding autos adds costs ... adding some parallel colors and sheets costs less. Rather than dabble, I may pick off singles that jump out at me but that puts this one in competition with anything and everything out there among the sea of singles ... meanwhile, this should be an easy "I'll try it" rip where I buy more than I should if I think it's reasonable that I'd find something, anything more than the basics. If finding any parallel of any guy is one in 125 packs, then I'll let you do the math for what it takes to find one of any of the 400 players found here.
Product Grade: B (not sure this one is improved vs. last year)
Box Grade: C- (with a missing pack, it really should be lower than this)
Fun Grade: C (not a fun rip with nothing but basic cards ... even for a low price)
